The School welcomed back a number of Old Geelong Grammarians on Sunday 19 June for the annual Careers Discovery Day, helping to educate current Year 10-12 students on what lies beyond GGS in terms of tertiary education. This year's guest speaker for Year 10 students was social researcher Ashley Fell, who spoke to the changing nature of the workplace and the future of work for generation alpha. Running simultaneously, in the Cook Theatre, Andrew Swan (Fr'07) delivered a 'University 101' session for the School's Year 11 and 12 students. Andrew is Principal of Mannix College at Monash University, having previously been Program Director of the Tuckwell Scholarship at ANU and College Head at Campbell Hall at Monash. The format of the day was re-imagined in 2022, with panel discussions taking place in various rooms within the School for Performing Arts and Creative Education. Jack Edgar (M'15), Sam Harvey (Turnbull, Cl'08), Hamish McLean (A'15), Maddi McLean (A'12), Jack Merrin (Fr'07), Parker Rettke (A'12), Celia Talbot (Harbridge, A'08), Olivia Wetherall (EM'13) and Victoria Wetherall (EM'12) generously took part in the panel discussions this year. The University Expo was held once again and it was wonderful to see a couple of recent graduates return to speak to their former peers about their specific university or residential college. |
