Stained Glass Window Preservation

The Chapel of All Saints is one of the School's finest buildings, and much of its lustre stems from the beautiful stained glass memorial windows with which it is adorned. So, when it was noticed that two of the windows in the baptistry needed some professional preservation work, the School's Archivist, Darren Watson, reached out to Robert Rusev Stained Glass. Rob has extensive experience as a stained glass craftsman and repairer. As he wryly observes, his might be a dying craft but it's taking a very long time going about it and has given him the opportunity to work on many of Victoria's most historically important stained glass windows. Our two windows are certainly in that league. They were dedicated in 1936 and 1950 in memory of Robert de Wolf (M'34) and Stewart Irvine Weir (P'24) respectively, and are the work of Christian Waller. Christian was the wife of artist Napier Waller (whose windows are also in the Chapel) and is a significant artist in her own right. Thanks to Rob and his team, we can expect Christian's windows to look their best for many years to come. ![]() ![]() |
