Cricket Premiership Dinner and Blessing of the Fleet
Wednesday, 18 October 2023
On the weekend of 6-8 October, two events were held which simultaneously launched the new cricket and rowing seasons and celebrated seasons past.

On Friday 6 October, GGS cricketers past and present attended a Tunbridge Club dinner at the RACV Club in Bourke Street, Melbourne. Guest speaker on the evening was Victoria's all-time leading Sheffield Shield run-scorer, Brad Hodge, and guests had the opportunity to ask questions during an entertaining Q and A session. The night celebrated last season's APS-premiership-winning 1st XI, as well as the team that won the premiership in 2013-14, from which several players were in attendance. You can view a selection of photos from the evening below.

On Sunday 8 October, the annual House Rowing regatta was held on the Barwon River. Following the regatta, several new boats were introduced to the fleet and were blessed by Rev Gordon Lingard, School Chaplain, before the customary bottle of champagne was broken above the boat for good luck. Maddison Brown (EM'15), Edwin Gill (Cu'68), Jane Perrignon (EM'17), Sarah Thomson (past parent and long-time Pincott Club committee member) and Jeffrey Watt (former GGS rowing coach/ administrator) were honoured this year.
